San Francisco Store Raided in Federal Law Enforcement Operation

A longtime home improvement company in San Francisco was targeted in a federal law enforcement operation Tuesday that involved multiple locations, The Standard has learned.

Uni Tile & Marble, known as 友利 in Chinese, located at 300 Alemany Blvd., was one of the sites searched in the operation, officials confirmed.

“We can confirm special agents with Homeland Security Investigations and personnel from U.S. Customs and Border Protection are conducting coordinated law enforcement operations,” Homeland Security Investigations spokesperson Alethea Smock said.

There is no danger or threat to the community, she added.

“Federal officers may be on-site for a while, perhaps more than a day,” said Abraham Simmons, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Northern California.

The reason for the operation is unclear. It’s also unclear what other locations were targeted or how they relate to one another.

The company at the Alemany Boulevard site, also called Uni Stone & Cabinet and Uni Marble & Granite, has two other affiliated locations in Hayward and San Jose. It specializes in bathroom and kitchen hardware, such as wall tiles, doors, cupboards and countertops with different types of imported stones.

The Standard called the numbers listed for the company’s three locations on Tuesday, but no one answered.

Uni Tile & Marble has been in the Bay Area for more than two decades, according to Chinese-language press articles.

The San Francisco business started in 2007, according to the city’s record.

The company touted that its high-quality products are affordable because of its direct connection with the parent company in Guangdong, China, so customers can order directly without going through dealers.

Xin Mian Pan, listed in records as the store’s owner, couldn’t be reached by phone or text on Tuesday.
